I am please to offer a suite of  4 rare rocks types from the famous Powderhorn Carbonatite/Alkali complex, also known as Iron Hill, in Gunnison County, Colorado USA, for $40.00 (USD) plus shipping.

All samples have been cut on at least one side for display and each measures approximately 6 x 6 x 1 cm., though some will be slightly larger or smaller, as I have made up a number of of these sets with specimens I have cut and prepared. All samples will be of suitable size and composition for making thin sections. A great set for a graduate level petrology class or a short course on carbonatites and associated alkaline rock complexes. The samples are as follows:

1.) Carbonatite
2.) Ijolite (rare alkaline rock first found in Norway; nepheline/aegirine/pyroxenes etc.)
3.) Uncompaghrite (type locality, another rare alkali rock composed moslty of mellilite)
4.) Pyroxene, altered to 40-70+% ilmenite, magnetite, and perovskite.

All samples will come with labels which list the exact coordinates from which the sample was collected; for map/Google earth georeferencing purposes.

Specimen Dimensions: 7 x 6 x 2 cm. to 5 x 5 x 1 cm. Weight: ~1 Kg. total/2.2 lbs.

This is a representative set of the 4 rock samples you will receive from the Powderhorn Complex, Colorado
