Baryte specimens from the Elk Creek area on the east side of South Dakota’s Black Hills are considered some of the finest in the world and for good reason. Glassy, almost cut gem-like transparency and luster combined with large size and stunning architecture make for memorable specimens. This is an outstanding large example which has been expertly trimmed and cleaned to create a truly aesthetic result. The baryte crystals are up to 10 cm. and doubly-terminated, with one crystal diverging in a striking manner from the central one. No repairs or restorations. Ex. Martin Jensen collection.
