Uraninite, Schoepite, Soddyite

Lookout No. 22 claim, Saguache County, Colorado, USA

Superb large, solid, very “hot” specimen of black Uraninite with a thick “shell” of colorful secondary ‘gummite’ group Uranium minerals including Schoepite and Soddyite, from circa 1950’s era finds at the Lookout #22 claim on Marshall Pass in central Colorado, USA. This material is very hard to find, being from a small one-time find in the 1950’s, and this is a choice example. From the noted collection of Brent Lockhart and comes with a custom acrylic display base by the Sunnywood Collection. It measures an impressive 200,000+ CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Previously part of the Colorado School of Mines collection. Rare!
