Description
Species: Chrysocolla ps. Malachite ps. Gypsum, Malachite
Locality: Tenke mine, Tenke-Fungurume area, Katanga, DR Congo
Size: 12.5 x 10 x 6 cm.
Superb, extremely-aesthetic specimen of vivid sky-blue chrysocolla psuedomorphs after elongated gypsum (?) (possibly azurite) crystals, overgrown by another generation of chrysocolla-included quartz, and small quartz-covered malachite spheres. “Candy” is the word that first comes to mind when viewing this mesmerizing material in person… just beautiful. These unusual and unique psuedomorphs have been coming out for a few years now from the mineral-rich Tenke-Fungurume area of the DR Congo, but this quality and lack of damage is very, very scarce. An outstanding specimen that draws the eye from across the room. One minor invisible repair to a small crystal. Mark Cross photo.
