Excellent very large, rich specimen of uranium ore featuring abundant uraninite var. pitchblende with hematite in altered gneissic matrix from the Ascension Mine, Golden Gate Canyon, Jefferson County, Colorado, USA. Exceptionally-rich specimen for this uncommon Colorado uranium locality situated in the same district as the much more famous Schwartzwalder mine. Measures ~125,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare!
