This is a superb cabinet-size specimen of lustrous, gemmy reddish-brown grossular garnet crystals from the 48-55 Claim, Vesper Peak, Sultan Mining District, Snohomish County, Washington USA. Vesper Peak is a remote and scenic alpine peak in the north Cascades which has produced some world-class grossular garnet specimens, which occur in a small skarn zone at the summit of this rugged peak. Good Vesper Peak grossular specimens have been eagerly sought by collectors for decades and are considered true classics of the Pacific Northwest. This fine specimen was collected last season (summer 2020) by the claim owner. It features large, quite gemmy crystals with excellent color and luster, aesthetically placed on skarn matrix.
