The Milpillas mine, an underground copper mine located in northern Mexico in Sonora State, has become a household name in the mineral collecting world over the past decade as the source of what many collectors consider the world’s finest azurite crystals. This particular specimen exhibits great luster, striking blue color, and large, blocky blue crystals in good condition, with just a tiny bit of malachite alteration for contrast. A beautiful and striking azurite miniature from this now iconic locality. Mark Cross photo.
