Species: Uraninite var. Pitchblende, Chalcocite
Locality: Mi Vida Mine (?), Lisbon Valley Mining District, San Juan County, Utah, USA
Dimensions: 6.7 x 2.8 x 2 cm.
Solid specimen of waxy black pitchblende with very minor chalcocite from the Moab area of Utah (possibly the Mi Vida mine). This is material collected 50+ years ago by famous northwest USA mineralogist Bart Cannon. Specimens of this material that are this rich are quite tough to find these days! Super super hot rock! Measures ~250,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare!
