The Central mine in Keweenaw County Michigan is perhaps best-known for its superb and distinctive specimens of tightly-intermeshed spinel twinned copper crystals which form sometimes large “herringbone” aggregates without matrix. This is a wonderful large cabinet-size example of this type of Copper crystallization from Central, which is highly 3-dimensional and can be displayed nicely in a variety of orientations. Likely collected in the late 19th century, this fine specimen was in the collection of noted Michigan Copper Country dealer and collector Paul LaBonte.
