Pyromorphite from the Bunker Hill mine in Kellogg, Idaho has long been recognized as some of the world’s best. This specimen was mined in the early 1980’s during the “pyromorphite heyday” at the Bunker Hill mine, and is an excellent pyromorphite for the locality, featuring highly-lustrous crystals with neon-orange to orange-green color and great crystal definition. The second generation of elongated prismatic pyromorphite crystals on a matrix of more curved, botryoidal arsenian pyromorphite is very aesthetic. The major finds at Bunker Hill were in the early 1980’s and superb undamaged specimens like this are now quite hard to come by. From the noted collection of Gerald Herfurth (1930-1998) of Denver, Colorado. Annette Slade photo. Classic!
