Species: Enargite, Tetrahedrite-Tennantite
Locality: Longfellow mine, Red Mountain Pass, Ouray County, Colorado USA
Dimensions: 17 x 13 x 4.5 cm.
The Longfellow mine, located near the crest of Red Mountain Pass in the rugged and fabled San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, has produced some of the finest enargite specimens from the United States. This is an excellent large example, featuring swaths of lustrous, sharp, undamaged black crystals to nearly 1 cm on tetrahedrite-tennantite and enargite matrix. A great enargite for the Longfellow mine, in fine condition and with good bright luster on the enargite crystals. Longfellow mine enargite specimens of this size and quality are quite hard to come by these days. Annette Slade photo.
