Description
Species: Fluorite, Calcite var. Manganoan
Locality: Dalnegorsk District, Dalnegorsk, Primorskiy Krai, Russia
Dimensions: 17 x 15 x 14.5 cm.
The Dalnegorsk Mining District in far eastern Russsia is world-famous for it’s superb fluorite and calcite specimens, and this fine combination piece features three large, 5 cm on edge light green fluorite cubes perched aesthetically on pale pink manganocalcite matrix. Collected in the early 1990’s, this classic Dalnegorsk specimen was in the collection of Lance T. Hampel, and then donated to the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum from whom I acquired it in trade. A nice large cabinet-size classic from a now largely depleted locality. Annette Slade photo.
