Description
Species: Fluorite
Locality: Minerva #1 mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois USA
Dimensions: 15 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm.
A beautiful and striking group of highly-lustrous, gemmy fluorite crystals featuring two generations of crystals: an older “base layer” of glassy amber-yellow cubes, overgrown by smaller violet to purple crystals which are very gemmy and well-formed. The combination of larger and smaller crystals is striking, and the color and luster are excellent for this classic material. Mark Cross photo.
