Galena specimens from the iconic Tri-State Mining district in the Midwestern United States grace museum and private collections around the world, and are known for their diversity of forms and often fine aesthetic qualities. This is a superb cabinet-size example, featuring numerous complexly-formed galena crystals on chert matrix with minor sphalerite. The cubic galena crystals have octahedral overgrowths on each corner of the cube, a fascinating and classic Tri-State galena attribute.
