Native Copper: Delaware mine, Keweenaw County, Michigan USA

Description

Species: Native Copper

Locality: Delaware mine, Delaware, Keweenaw County, Michigan USA

Dimensions: 19.5 x 6.5 x 3 cm.

This is an excellent large group of blocky, twinned, richly patina’d copper crystals with an elegant overall configuration from a lesser-known Michigan Copper Country locality, the Delaware mine. The specimen features several well-formed large dodecahedral copper crystals to 2.5 cm perched on a “stalk” of elongated, twinned crystals. The specimen has a nice rich chocolate-brown patina, with some small areas of green malachite. A very fine large, well-crystallized copper for this locality better known for datolite nodules. Ex.
