Description
Species: Samarskite-(Y), Albite
Locality: Spinelli prospect, Glastonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA
Dimensions: 5.5 cm x 3 cm x 2.5 cm
Excellent group of fairly large samarskite-(Y) crystals with minor remnant albite matrix attached. Ex. Collection Eric Quinter specimen U/Th 0608, pictured on Mindat.org. The Quinter collection contained the best suite of minerals from the Spinelli pegmatite in central Connecticut from a special specimen mining project from 2008-2013 at this classic locale which yielded numerous specimens of well-crystallized, sometimes world-class samarskite-(Y) and columbite-(Fe). This is a great example from this find, from a locality which is now totally extinct!
