Superb, extremely rich specimen of black uraninite (crude crystals) in minor pegmatite matrix with classic “rims” of colorful ‘gummite’, uranophane, and other secondary uranium minerals from the famous Fanny Gouge Mine, Micaville, Celo, Yancey County, North Carolina, USA. This fine specimen has a wonderful provenance too, with labels from Hugh Ford (noted early 20th Century mineral dealer) as well as well-known collector Bill Pinch of Rochester, New York. From the noted collection of physicist and engineer Dr. George Kamin of Arcadia, California. Measures ~150,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare!!
