This is a superb and very rich/dense specimen of solid uraninite altering to, and being replaced by, yellow “gummite”, a mixture of secondary uranium minerals, with another outer rim of radiating brown zircon variety “cyrtolite”. Classic and RARE material for the famous Spruce Pine District in western North Carolina. Super HOT at nearly 200,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 counter! An awesome uranium mineral specimen!
