Locality: Ike – Nixon mine, Lisbon Valley Mining District, San Juan County, Utah, USA
Dimensions: 7 x 2.6 x 3.8 cm.
Excellent, solid specimen of heavy, waxy black uraninite (pitchblende variety) from a classic Utah locality which was mined during the atomic energy boom years of the 1950’s and 60’s. There are no other minerals present in this sample, and it is extremely “hot”, measuring over 170,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare material from a classic American locality.
