Description
Species: Vanadinite
Locality: Apex mine, San Carlos, Manuel Benavides Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico
Dimensions: 6.8 x 5.0 x 3.4 cm.
Northern Mexico’s Apex mine is one of the world’s major localities for crystallized vanadinite, and this classic old locality was put “back on the map” a few years ago when a major pocket containing large, lustrous, bright-red crystals in attractive hoppered forms was found. This fine small cabinet piece exhibits large, robust crystals with great color and stacked/parallel-growth form. Some minor damage on the backside, but overall in good condition. Mark Cross photo.
