Superb cabinet-size specimen of well-crystallized Uraninite with minor uranophane/becquerelite from the most important and sought-after Uranium mineral locality in the world, the Shinkolobwe mine in the DR Congo. Features dozens of sharp cubic uraninite crystals to ~8 mm. each on massive uraninite matrix. Specimens like this have always been rare and always been in demand by serious collectors. This impressive example is from the noted collection of Brent Lockhart and comes with a custom acrylic display base by the Sunnywood Collection. It measures an equally impressive 200,000+ CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Previously part of the Eric Quinter Collection. Rare!!
