Native Copper: Quincy Mine, Hancock, Houghton County, Michigan USA

This is an excellent and highly-aesthetic group of elegantly-branching spinel law twinned copper crystals which terminate in sharp cubic copper crystals to ~5 mm. Well-formed cubes are arguably the rarest crystal form in Michigan copper, and this is a fantastic example which is also highly-atypical for the Quincy mine. The patina is superb and has very nice red cuprite and black tenorite tones. A rare Michigan Copper Country classic. Annette Slade photo.
