Excellent, very large solid specimen of waxy jet-black Aeschynite-(Y) from the Clora May Pegmatite, Trout Creek Pass, Chaffee County, Colorado, USA. An exceptional Aeschynite-(Y) specimen for this largely-extinct locality, one of the more significant localities worldwide for this unusual rare earth element species. Collected around 2008 or so by outstanding Colorado REE mineral field collector Rudy Bolona. Measures ~80,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare!!
