Bournonite specimens from England’s Herodsfoot mine are considered one of the most prized “classics” out there, and have also stood the test of time as far as their quality, competing with recent finds from Bolivia and China. This is a showy cabinet-size bournonite with lustrous “cogwheel twinned” crystals to 1.5 cm associated with quartz and chalcopyrite crystals, a very typical association for Herodsfoot. The luster and aesthetics of this old-time specimen are quite good, and the piece sits nicely for display.
