Calcite crystals from southern Illinois’ Denton mine are among the finest and most prized calcites from the Midwestern USA, and are known for their rich golden color, complex morphology, and bright luster. This is an excellent, showy large plate of crystals with great color, luster, and form. The crystals really “glows” under sunlight or good indoor lighting, and the “extra faces” make them fascinating to study and look at. Ex. Lance T. Hampel and A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum collections. A true Midwest mineral classic! Mark Cross photo.
