This specimen features a large, twinned, doubly terminated, glassy, cognac colored, twinned calcite crystal which is aesthetically set on a shard of gray-white dolostone matrix with a duo of smaller Calcite crystals. This super lustrous scalenohedral calcite crystal is gorgeous and the twin plane is very distinct, adding to the complexity of this fine crystal! In excellent condition with only a tiny cleave at the very tip on one termination of the main calcite- If this piece was totally pristine with this type of quality and aesthetics, it would be a $5000-plus specimen. Elmwood calcites are common enough, but not with aesthetics like this. Ex. Alex Neufeld Collection. Annette Slade photo.
