Crystallized chalcocite specimens from Connecticut’s Bristol mine are some of the most classic and sought-after examples of the species in the world, and have been treasured by museums and private collectors for over two hundred years. This fine miniature is a great example of the sharp, high-quality, twinned chalcocite crystals the have made this historic mine famous. The crystals, up to ~1.5 cm, have good luster, sharp faces, and complex forms, and sit aesthetically on a calcite and rock matrix. Good-quality Bristol mine chalcocites are simply just not around on the market, and this great mini is perfect for an advanced collector. Mark Cross photo.
