Description
Species: Native Copper
Locality: Rocklands mine, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia
Size: 12.5 x 6.5 x 4 cm.
This is a superb group of well-formed spinel twinned copper crystals to nearly 6.5 cm. forming an aesthetic cluster without matrix from the Rocklands mine in northeastern Australia. The Rocklands mine rose to fame among collectors around 8-10 years ago for it’s rare but sometimes world-class crystallized copper specimens. Having handled hundreds of these copper over the past 5 years I can tell you that large cluster of spinel-twinned crystals such as this are exceedingly rare from this mine. A superb specimen and a true Australian mineral classic. Mark Cross photos.
