Description
Species: Rutile (twinned)
Locality: Graves Mountain, Lincoln County, Georgia, USA
Size: 6.5 x 4 x 3.5 cm.
A superb, razor-sharp, highly-lustrous complex eightling-style twinned rutile crystal measuring 3 cm. is aesthetically perched atop a matrix of iron-stained pyrophyllite and kyanite from Graves Mountain, Lincoln County, Georgia, USA. Graves Mountain rutile specimens are by far the best in the world for the species. Every serious collection needs to have a great one in my opinion, and this is a perfect candidate. This specimen is from the noted collection of David Smith who assembled probably’s the world’s best collection of Graves Mountain minerals, and was expertly prepared by Mark Woods of Athens, Georgia.
