Species: Siderite var. Spharosiderite
Locality: Baia Sprie mine, Baia Sprie, Maramures County, Romania
Dimensions: 11.5 x 9.5 x 2.5 cm.
This unusual botryoidal variety of siderite, known as ‘spharosiderite’, is a classic from Romania’s well-known Baia Sprie mine, and this is the best example I have personally ever seen of this material. The specimen is quite aesthetic for a brown botryoidal mineral, and in great condition as seen. Ex. Fine Minerals International. Mark Cross photo. Rare!
