Sperrylite, the rare platinum arsenide mineral, reaches its zenith in the huge massive sulfide deposits of the remote Noril’sk District in Siberia, Russia. Unknown to western collectors until the early 1990’s, these superb, large, well-formed sperrylite crystals truly redefined the species when they started appearing on the market around 30 years ago. This fine miniature features a well-formed 1 cm crystal with good luster on a matrix of massive chalcopyrite, pentlandite, etc ore. A fine matrix sperrylite from old finds, with good display aesthetics. From an older collection, this specimen comes with a small printed acrylic display card. A Russian classic which in recent years has become increasingly scarce on the market. Annette Slade photo. Classic!
