Los Lamentos is perhaps Mexico’s most iconic and well-known wulfenite locality, and has produced world-class wulfenite specimens for nearly one hundred years, which grace museums and private collections around the world. This is an excellent cabinet-size specimen from old finds in the 1960’s/70’s, featuring lustrous, thick, butterscotch-orange wulfenite crystals to 1.5 cm in excellent condition. The color is more orange in person than in the photo, and actually is bright enough to nicely contrast with the brownish ‘endlichite’ vanadinite and calcite matrix. The wulfenite crystals form isolated’ mounds’ of crystals, making for a very aesthetic presentation. This fine old-time wulfenite was part of the noted collection of Gerald Herfurth (1930-1998) of Denver, Colorado (Herfurth #2738). An increasingly rare classic in this quality! Annette Slade photo.
