Canada’s Faraday Uranium mine, located near the “mineral mecca” of Bancroft, Ontario, is famous for it’s superb and unique calcite specimens full of amazingly unique, aesthetic capillary chalcopyrite crystals. Chalcopyrite, which typically forms equant tetragonal crystals, occurs as uniquely-elongated “fibers” in calcite at this locality. Good large specimens of this material are a wonderful to behold, they delight collectors and neophytes alike with their beautifully-patterned, golden-colored inclusions. This old-time comes from the collection of David Spatz, and has several other old collection numbers affixed to its base as well. A scarce and sought-after Canadian mineral classic.
