The Tsumeb mine, while certainly much more famous for it’s rare and beautiful secondary carbonates and arsenates etc, has produced some outstanding calcite specimens over the years. Good large examples are surprisingly uncommon as little attention was paid to collecting “common” calcite crystals by miners. This excellent and quite large specimen features complex stepped rhombohedral gemmy clear calcite crystals, dusted in places with hematite and duftite. The showy large specimen can be displayed from multiple sides and is a real eye-catcher. Annette Slade photo.
