This beautiful large-cabinet size group of vibrant lemon-yellow fluorite crystals with thin blue rims to 6+ cm on edge is from an unusual locality for the famous Southern Illinois Fluorspar District, the Oxford #7 mine in the Cave-in-Rock District. The specimen has an excellent provenance, having been mined around 1969, then going to the William Schultz collection (#FL-15), sold to Ross Lillie circa 1998, then in Lillie’s collection until it was sold to renowned pegmatite researcher Dr. David London. It was later sold back to Lillie, who sold it to Mr. Loren Lemmen of Ada Michigan, from whom I acquired it is trade. Good luster, gorgeous color, and fine condition make this a very good Illinois fluorite. Annette Slade photo. Classic!
