This is a very fine specimen of deeply-hoppered, skeletal galena crystals on chalcopyrite and sphalerite crystal matrix from the Eagle Mine in Gilman, Eagle County, Colorado USA. The Eagle mine was for many years Colorado’s most prolific producer of mineral specimens. Closed since 1984, specimens such as this choice example are now considered classics for Colorado. I have never seen an Eagle mine galena with these deeply-hoppered crystals, and this choice, large cabinet-size example is in fine condition and displays great.
