This is a hefty, aesthetic crystallized gold specimen without matrix weighing 51 grams from Nevada’s famous Round Mountain mine. The luster is very bright and the crystals are in fine condition, with well-formed spinel twins to 1 cm forming and elegant ‘stack’ of crystals. Specimens like this represent a ‘time capsule’ of fine crystallized gold specimens produced over a brief period at this large-scale, highly-mechanized operating mine. As the mine is not producing or allowing the sale of these fine gold specimens anymore, their value and scarcity is sure to go up in the future.
