This is a superb and very rich/dense specimen of solid uraninite altering to, and being replaced by, yellow “gummite”, a mixture of secondary uranium minerals. Classic and RARE material for the famous Spruce Pine District in western North Carolina. Has a label saying it was purchased by Wilber from Larry Conklin for $1000 in 2001, and was part of the Al Sebela collection at one point. Super HOT at nearly 300,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 counter! An awesome uranium mineral specimen!
