The Jachymov District is one of the most famous and classic uranium mining districts in the world, and led to the discovery of a number of elements, including uranium and radium, in the 1800s. This is an exceptionally-rich pitchblende specimen for this famous area, with rich veins of waxy black uraninite in pink baryte matrix. Quite HOT as you might imagine, measuring over 250,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 Counter with the 44-9 probe. Rare material, classic!
