Normally I tend to shy away from ‘polished minerals’ and lapidary objects, but when they are good, these fine rutilated quartz specimens from Brazil’s famous Novo Horizonte area are simply mesmerizing. This fine 7.5 cm polished quartz crystal shows excellent-quality rutile inclusions, including a partial rutile “star” in the center on the crystal, a highly-prized feature of these classic rutilated quartz specimens. A highly-aesthetic and great quality rutilated quartz crystal from older finds. From the noted collection of Gerald Herfurth (1930-1998) of Denver, Colorado. Annette Slade photo.
