This is a very large, elegant “swoop” or “check mark” of crystallized copper from the Central mine in Keweenaw County, Michigan. The Central mine is one of the iconic copper mines of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, and has produced world-class copper specimens for over 150 years. The wonderfully-aesthetic large copper is complete all-around and features a “base” of large, complexly-twinned blocky tetrahexahedral crystals, which morph into an amazingly-long, flattened (spinel law twinning repetition?) “fin” of crystallized copper. The fin has many small trigon-like imprints on its surface, and crystal faces on its side, showing it is in fact crystallized and not just a “mass.” This is a really unique and aesthetic large copper specimen with a great rich, natural chocolate-brown patina.
