Large apatite crystals have been known for over 100 years from the Bancroft region of Ontario, Canada, where they occur in calcite “vein-dikes”, enigmatic deposits unique to southern Ontario’s Grenville Province. This is a superb large single fluorapatite crystal which is notable for it’s very well-formed pyramidal termination, unusually perfect and symmetrical for one of these. A great single apatite crystal from a classic locality, from old (early 20th century or late 1900s) finds. Mark Cross photo.
