A complete ‘floater’ group of well-formed calcite crystals dusted by pyrite served as the matrix from numerous deep, ‘royal-green’ emerald crystals to ~1.6 cm in this fine specimen from the classic La Pita mine, Maripí Municipality, Boyacá, Colombia. A very aesthetic, unusual example of a sought-after gem species on matrix. The emerald crystals have GREAT color, a really rich, deep desirable emerald-green, and the white calcite matrix is nicely-crystallized. From recent finds. Annette Slade photo.
