Superb large specimen of highly-lustrous, jet-black wedge shaped hematite crystals from a very unusual and classic locality, the Korshunovskoye iron mine in Russia. This mine, much more famous for it’s large sliced and polished “seraphinite” (clinochlore) specimens, has actually produced some world-class hematite specimens as well, though they are seldom seen for sale. This choice example was traded out of the Fersman Museum in the 1990’s. In good condition as seen, with super bright luster. Rare! Mark Cross photo.
